Appreciation towards Rehwaldt Landscape Architects for providing the following description:

Freehand drawing is the fastest and the most direct tool for designers. However, due to practical reasons, the real projects can often somehow differ from the hand-painted in the landing process. The Ega Park in Erfurt is an exception. It performs highly faithful to hand-painting after landing. Tourists travel through it, as if jumping directly into the world of hand-painting.

In 2014, the city of Erfurt decided to transform Eiger Park as a preheating for the 2021 Federal Garden Show.
In the All-German Design Competition entitled “Games and Experience the World”. Reward Landscape Architects designed and entered the competition with the theme of “The Gardener’s Kingdom” and won the first place in the competition. The meticulous investigation and analysis, the concise and clear plan, and the very hand-painted expression of the childlike impressed the judges. The theme scenes portrayed by the needle pen and the marker pen in the design came into reality one by one.

Entrance of the Park
Erfurt has been an important trading area since the Middle Ages, with horses and vehicles transporting goods endlessly. The graphic of plants and tools are printed along the roadside from the park entrance to the game area, which is inspired by the products that fell from the horse back before. From here, children will learn about the steps of agricultural production in a colorful game world.

Purchasing
Entering the game area, the first game site is a “flower shop”, which simulates the scene of buying seeds before farming. Inside the small wooden roof are there shelves and even a cash register, the scattered molds around it can be used as commodities themselves, or to shape the sand and “produce” the commodities.

In addition to the Nail seesaw, the park also provides opportunities for children to truly “farm work” by themselves. The mini farm tools made of rubber instead of metal conform to the physical dimension of children, ensuring safe use, allowing children to become familiar with farming tools while playing in the sand.

The bean sprouts climbing frame is set above the water, simulating the scene of bean Germination. Children need to climb the “bean sprouts” and cross a series of balance beams to reach the other side of the pool. The bamboo shoot climbing frame “grows” on land. In addition to the height difference, this series of climbing frame is also equipped with various swings and suspension bridges, providing interesting and diverse challenges. The red radishes are also the “products of field”. Several small slides are built in the form of radishes. A metal pole is connected between the handrails at the highest part of the slide, encouraging children to overcome their fear of heights and bravely turn a somersault.

Children need to enter through the hole below the installation and go through a series of climbs to reach the top of the slide.Common swings use open seats, which require people to hold the rope tightly to maintain balance. For infants and toddlers whose grip strength has not yet matured, the strawberry swings are equipped with sturdy and complete safety seats, which allow the little children to also enjoy the fun of swinging.

The pool in the site belongs to cultural heritage and is therefore specially protected. While keeping with the original appearance of the pool, the designer also added some props to realize the game function. Parents need to put on waterproof pants and drag the “Duckweed” to catch children from one side to another of the pool. Children riding on the “Duckweed” need to salvage designated fruits and vegetables from the water. The cooperation between parent and child strengthens the family participation with fun.

Materials and Construction
After the completion of the Ega Park, the hand-drawn effect is highly realized, the scenes are just like jumping out of the drawings and falling into reality. This high degree of reduction is inseparable from active and effective communication and careful consideration of the manufacturing process. During construction, designers and craftsmen have made many models and tried different materials and colors repeatedly to achieve the best results. In the amusement equipment. For example, they use a variety of similar color glazes to show the different strokes of the mark pen.
